The Beginning

So, this morning I woke up and said hey, here I have been enjoying so many blogs from my friends that I should start my own. So here it is.

Ean and I have our own catering company, Stray Dogs Catering. It is very exciting and in May we will be entering into our third year open as a company. Open, you may ask? Well yes, our company has been existing since February of 2004 but while working on building an awesome clientele we had to find a warehouse, gut it and rebuild it from the ground up into a gorgeous commerical kitchen. We could have found a place to rent, commerical kitchens are all over the east side and in Seattle, but we wanted something to call our own. So, we built our own. We meaning Ean. By himself (with the help of friends from church, his brother, and family - who sacrificially gave up many of their weekends doing odd things like paint or plumb the sewer--yuck) *photos to come*

It took us 14 months and lots and lots of patience, but he did it. And so, in May 0f 2006 we opened our amazing kitchen and started delivery box lunches during the week and catering special events on the weekends and in the evenings.

We love it! Ean is a very talented cook. he grew up in the kitchen -- literally. His mom and grandmother (who are also great cooks) tell me stories of him in the kiddy pool as a 6 months old wading around on the kitchen floor in hot Indiana summers, while they were canning or baking or making a meal or three. Some of his earliest memories are him associated with food. Growing up on a farm will do that. Running through corn fields to grandpa's house etc. Very fun and it just grew into a great hobby and love. Well after going to culinary school and coming to a cross roads in Ean's life he moved out here to Washington, where we met, dated, married and now are caterers! It is crazy where God will take you! What a fun ride!

Never graduating from high school I have made up for it in on-the-job training. I have been a manager a Human Resource lady and yes, have done accounts payable and accounts receivable. So needless to say when I asked Ean what my role would be in the company he said "you'll run the office and the staff" - I was hooked!

This bog thing is neat. I look forward to where my thoughts take me and where this blog goes through the next coming months and years. Please use this as a way to get to know me and our company. I want this to be a place of encouragement and fun! Enjoy--
